I want to make this declaration of thanks to Twitter and the Twitterverse while I upgrade my skills with MT (I hope to be able to get charts and video going so that you will have something to learn from and work with by the end of next week).

I am not a technology skeptic; I just limit the use of it to what helps me become efficient. I never owned even a cell phone until Jan 20, 2008. They reminded me too much of the time that I was a duty engineer in a manufacturing facility. When the numbers of engineers dropped to me (and another individual who was not as qualified) I was ALWAYS duty engineer, on call 24/7 7 days a week. I hated that and the beeper was a chain around my neck. That is what I considered wireless communications (and I still do) until I figured out a way to shut it off). I own four PCs, 11 screens (which may soon become 18) and a ton of analytical software.

I still, until recently, thought texting was total idiocy (I still do, outside of Twitter). I know I am living in a totally strange world when "If you text it, I'll delete it" is part of a lyric to a chart topping love song by billionairess Miley Cyrus. I will be struck by lightning and die before I text something via cell phone.

Then came Twitter and a meeting with a local real estate entrepreneur.

I have to give credit to Jody Gnant (@jodyg), the indie singer-songwriter, for getting me connected with Twitter by accident. A week after that, I met a local expert in social media who developed an entire real estate wholesaling operation totally based on social media, virtual assistants, and local closing agents (himself and his wife primarily). The virtual world of commerce was instantly introduced to me.

From that point forward, I have found an entire universe of well-informed news, data, and opinion that I might never have tapped into had I not decided to join. From this medium, I have found numerous talented traders, venture capitalists, politicos of all stripes, authors, poets, musicians, and freelance and paid writers. Twitter, though it could be used as a mindless toy, is definitely NOT one. I have found more investment news, domestic and international, and more expertise in energy, infrastructure, and venture capital than I might otherwise find here in Upstate South Carolina. It is utterly amazing.

I want to thank each and every one of you who put up with my intermittent sarcasm for the wealth of knowledge and even camaraderie that this service provides. It's like tapping into a collective intellect that feeds upon itself and gets smarter just because of the connection with other intellectually curious and hungry people.
